Great Ideas for Your Wedding!

I am always thrilled when I find something fun and new to do at a wedding, especially when it is a detail that brings even more meaning to an already wonderful occasion. Here are a couple of idea I ran across that are fabulous and have so much potential to work with so many weddings.

Jenny at Simcoe Street had a great idea for her wedding too!

"What we did was get wedding photos of as many of our guests as we could - our aunts, uncles, great aunts and uncles, grandparents, parents and friends. Sometimes this meant calling the kids of our parents' friends and asking them to secretly scan and email us the pic. For a lot of them, our Moms had copies of pictures that we made copies of and used. Everyone was completely surprised by this, and it was fun to show weddings of all styles and decades and highlight the amazing tradition of weddings."

This idea is fun and what a great way to celebrate marriage!

Picnic Perfect Inspiration!

Every once in awhile something so amazing comes your way,

that every time you think about it, you are inspired.

Bridal Shower Inspiration

A week or so ago on Tickled Pink at 504 Main, there was a link up to a beautiful bridal shower. I of course love all of those fancy schmancy bridal shower photo shoots you see in magazines and online, but I am really impressed with real life bridal showers and I think we can all learn a thing or two from what happens in the real world! So, as I find real life, real world, real people inspirations I have decided to share them.

Perfectly Pink and Green

PINK! PINK! PINK!

GREEN! GREEN! GREEN!

My two most favorite colors...E-V-E-R!

I am guessing it is because I NEVER had a pink room.

Yep, yellow Holly Hobbie it was for me!

I love color at weddings.

It evokes emotion and sets a tone.

Color doesn't have to be trendy...

you do not have to select what is

being touted in the magazines.

You do not have to settle.

Color reflects your style!

Choose what you like...

it is your wedding!

Anyway, I have been waiting for the right time to post this beautiful tablescape. 

I worked on this tablescape with some other talented designers as part of a magazine shoot. I have been meaning to post it for awhile, but I never quite got around to it {surprise! surprise!}, until now! It is perfect for today...or any day!

A Lot of Color! A Lot of Spice!

Back when I was in L.A., I was the Co-Director for

the Association of Bridal Consultants-Greater Los Angeles.

In that position I had the opportunity to work with

amazing people on a daily basis. 

Each month we would host a mixer for event professionals.

The goal was networking, education and

to introduce new products and ideas.

The following photos are from one of our events

held at Veranda's in Manhattan beach, California.

For this event went went with a "hip Moroccan" theme

and used non traditional colors of fuchsia, lime, and orange. 

There were beautiful linens, chairs, and locale provided,

but working with a florist we transformed
the event using common items that had
great impact on the eyes and not on the budget.

Hollowed artichokes and orange halves held votives.

This added a bit of whimsy and also a fun way

to display common wedding decor. 

 Glass hurricanes held pillar candles, but interest

was created by placing dried fruits and nuts in the base...

bought in bulk...this was very inexpensive. 

We used the spices only on the cocktail tables,

so their aroma did not interfere with the meal.

 Spices were used freely!

Again, we bought spices in bulk

- look for whole, not ground, spices

such as coriander, anise, cinnamon sticks, bay leaves, etc.

Dates, figs, and other fruits also provided a

naturally fitting accent to the cocktail table decor.

The lanterns and other containers were all from Big Lots

and purchased at various times.

Only a few here and there matched, but the overall feel

of the containers was the same, so it worked.

The fabric draping is a combination of sheets bought on clearance, yardage of inexpensive fabric, and a print to bring it all to life. Extra large pillow forms were covered in cases made of sheets and loungers made of foam were placed throughout the garden.

Simple and inexpensive details using unexpected elements

were the key to this Hip Moroccan inspired soiree.

Lovebirds! Bridal Shower Inspiration

Today's absolutely amazing eye candy

The theme is Lovebirds - perfection!

And Yvonne describes is as a

"...whimsical, vintage and organic feel.

Lots of natural elements.

A sort of Anthropology meets StoneGable."

It is one of the most delightful,

well-designed themes I have seen for a bridal shower.

Seriously it is so fantastic that I believe I stopped

my comment on the post to go to my email and

ask if I could post her idea here.

So, get ready...this is gorgeous!

Lovebirds

The decor consists of nest, twigs, sticks, moss,

and items from around the house, with shades of spring greens,

blue, aquas with accents of white and brown and fun pops of yellow.

I have nothing but love for this kind of party planning!

Even the utensils are displayed with flair!

Fanciful Chandelier

I love pretty things...probably why I love weddings.

A couple of months ago, over at 504 Main,

I created a Birthday Chandelier for my hubby.

I had every intention of redoing this project into

a fantastical wedding decoration...

but alas time has gotten away from me...

and besides Christie at Pretty Paper Book took this idea

and made it so beautiful and magical,

I thought I would just share her beautiful creation with you.

Can you imagine how beautiful these chandeliers

would be hanging in trees from arbors...

anywhere at a wedding or wedding shower.

Charming Design Inspirations

Happy Friday!

The other day I was feeling inspired...

wanting to create a sweet,

romantic, charming vintage-inspired table with lots

of fun details for a project that I am working on.

I was pleased as punch with the way it turned out...

so I just had to share!

There are a lot of little details and ideas found here

that a bride {or bridesmaid} can easily be incorporated

into a wedding, bridal shower, or bridesmaids tea/luncheon.

 A chandelier of found branches hangs from the camellia tree,
adorned with ribbons and miniature paper globes,
it creates a whimsical focal point.
Imagine a fantastic cake sitting under the chandelier!

A view from overhead.

A nest provides the perfect spot for a paper globe to rest.
A glittering monogram awaits the guest.
A truffle, your favorite candy, or
another special treat can nest here.

A simple glass container set a top a silver tray
is home to a bed of moss, baby's breath
and gorgeous red camellias.
I just love baby's breath when it is paired with
the unexpected or grouped in a large, full bunch.
Carnations rock this way too!

Petite vases on either side of the main
centerpiece hold pink baby roses.

A shot of the overall place setting - my favorite
find last week were these pink basket weave plates.
I paired them with toile saucers and
a rose/love themed larger plate.
A glass and pitcher set with a platinum rim.
I used that because it complimented
my tea cups with the platinum rim.

I played with the linens a lot.
First I laid a basic white linen,
then layered burlap on top
{I am officially in love with burlap these days}.
I topped the burlap with a small embroidered square linen.
The napkins are simple and ecru.
I just loved the look of the contrast between
the smooth, rough, and vintage layers.

Handmade paper globes with flowing ribbon
hung from the chandelier.
Crystals were add for some sparkle.

I used some decorative iron garden chairs,
wrapped them in a lightweight white fabric
and tied them off with a strip of burlap.
Tucking some baby's breath, and topping the chair
with a vintage doilie finished the look.
